HERE to HERE
HR&A helped HERE to HERE unite approximately 25 major employers to transform workforce development in the Bronx, creating systematic pathways connecting local youth with career opportunities. Our feasibility study, operating plan, and strategic convening led to the launch of CareerWise NYC, an apprenticeship program for high school students, and established frameworks for sustained employer investment in developing the borough’s talent pipeline.
The Bronx faced persistent workforce mismatches where employment opportunities and ready local employees remained disconnected, limiting career prospects for young people while leaving employers struggling to fill positions. HERE to HERE recognized that resolving this challenge required systematic engagement from the business community to invest in career development for Bronx youth. HR&A conducted a feasibility study for creating a Bronx Private Industry Council, identifying goals and vision for convening employers around talent pipeline development with initial focus on high school internships. We developed comprehensive operating plans and revenue models while conducting return on investment analysis that quantified costs and benefits for participating employers, Bronx youth, and city and state stakeholders.
Our work created compelling materials highlighting the immediate and long-term value proposition that brought together major employers committed to changing education and workforce systems. Following this foundational work, HERE to HERE successfully launched CareerWise NYC and piloted additional talent recruitment and retention initiatives for local youth, including programs focused on CUNY graduates. HR&A continues supporting HERE to HERE’s Business Council in designing and implementing various initiatives, including executive recruitment for CareerWise, ensuring sustained employer engagement in developing career pathways for Bronx young people.
