Overview

HR&A is helping Dallas ISD direct $40 million toward community facilities in neighborhoods historically impacted by segregation and disinvestment. Our work developing student-family resource centers at two school campuses combines comprehensive community engagement with capital analysis to create hubs delivering services that reflect local priorities.

Project

Dallas ISD recognizes how neighborhoods shape life outcomes for children and dedicated $40 million in bond funding toward community facilities at schools in historically segregated and disinvested areas. HR&A is leading development of student-family resource centers at two campuses, conducting comprehensive community engagement, researching best practices, and analyzing potential capital and programmatic investments. Our work ensures facilities and services reflect local assets and needs while delivering critical community resources.

This initiative positions DISD campuses as community anchors rather than isolated institutions, creating spaces where families can access services that support student success and neighborhood stability. HR&A’s engagement process centers community voices in determining programming priorities while our analysis evaluates facility requirements and operational models. By grounding recommendations in both community input and best practices from similar initiatives nationwide, we’re helping DISD create resource centers that address specific neighborhood needs while establishing replicable frameworks for future investments across the district.
