Downtown Staten Island secured $10 million in New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding through HR&A’s strategic investment planning. Leading a multidisciplinary team, we developed implementation roadmaps for 10 catalytic projects that will leverage state funding to attract millions in additional investment and advance downtown revitalization.
HR&A advised state agencies and local committees composed of government, civic, and business leaders throughout the planning process. We oversaw planning, design, engineering, policy, and public outreach subconsultants analyzing downtown conditions, identifying opportunities and challenges, and recommending priority investments supporting revitalization. This collaborative approach ensured recommendations reflected both technical analysis and community priorities.
The fast-paced planning process produced strategic investment plans and implementation roadmaps positioning Downtown Staten Island for sustained growth. The 10 priority projects leverage DRI funds to attract additional private and public investment while establishing momentum for further development, demonstrating how coordinated strategic planning can transform downtowns through targeted public investment.
